Layering actives without breaking your skin barrier

Knowledge15 may 20261 min de lectura

Acids, retinoids, vitamin C, peptides — modern routines stack a lot of active ingredients into a small surface area. Stacked carelessly, they irritate the skin barrier and undo each other's work. Stacked carefully, they amplify results.

Three principles we follow at NÒRDE:

  • Order by pH and texture: thinner, water-based actives go first; richer oils and creams go last.
  • Separate retinoids and exfoliants: never the same evening. Alternate days.
  • Buffer with hydration: hyaluronic acid layered between strong actives reduces irritation without diluting efficacy.

If your skin is flushed, tight or peeling after 7–10 days of a new routine, you are layering too much.
